In the Smart Asset Ecosystem, vehicles with a traditional gateway along with any equipment tagged with a BLE sensor is re-named in the main SmartAsset interface under Lists > Equipment. Vehicles with a dash camera gateway are re-named in the DashCam & Telematics module under Global Settings > Vehicles.
How to Rename Light Equipment and Vehicles with a Traditional Gateway in SmartAsset
Step 1. In the SmartAsset Equipment Tracking screen, navigate to the Lists button on the left-hand side of the screen.
Step 2. In the menu that appears, click the Equipment button
Step 3. In the Equipment List screen, type in the name of the equipment in the Name field that you would like to re-name or update. If this field is grayed out, then the equipment name info is being populated in another system such as Aspire. Update the name in Aspire and it will automatically update in Smart Asset
Step 4. When the record appears, click on the current name of the equipment to open the field.
Step 5. In the Name field, click in the name field and delete the existing name of the equipment and type in a new name. In the example below we deleted the name Max Blower 1 and updated it to Backpack Blower 1.
Step 6. Once the name has been updated, click Save in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
How to Re-Name Vehicles with a Dashcam Gateway in SmartAsset
Step 1. In the SmartAsset Equipment Tracking screen, navigate to the
Dashcam & Telematics button on the left-hand side of the screen.
Step 2. Once in the Dashcam & Telematics screen, navigate to the upper
right-hand corner and click on the gear icon.
Step 3. In the dropdown menu, select Global Settings.
Step 4. From the left-hand side of the Global Settings box, click Vehicles.
Step 5. In the Find a vehicle field, type in the name of the vehicle that you need to rename.
The vehicle will display in the Vehicles list.
Step 6. Click on the vehicle record that displays to open the record.

Step 7. In the Vehicle Info field, locate the Vehicle Name field. Highlight the existing name and start typing in the new name. In thje example below we are renaming the vehicle from Loren's Escape to "Explorer"
Step 8. Once the name has been changed, click Save Changes button in the lower right hand corner of the screen. The name will update in the Vehicles list.
