Installation of Stationary Gateways

Stationary gateways are fixed-location devices used to collect data from nearby BLE sensors and transmit that data to the platform via cellular connectivity. Proper placement and installation are critical for reliable coverage and accurate equipment visibility. Please see the installation instructions below.

Step 1: Select the Installation Location

Choose a location that:

  • Provides strong BLE signal coverage to the target equipment
  • Is centrally located within the coverage area
  • Has access to power
  • Is protected from weather, vibration, and physical damage

Step 2: Connecting the Gateway

  1. Ensure the gateway is:
    • Firmly mounted
    • Not obstructed by metal objects
    • Plug the gateway into a standard AC outlet
    • Secure the power cable to prevent strain or accidental unplugging

Step 3: Power On & Verify Status

  1. Allow the gateway 2–5 minutes to boot
  2. Confirm LED indicators show:
    • Power
    • Network or cellular connectivity
    • Active BLE scanning
  3. Verify the gateway appears online in the platform

Coverage Validation

After installation:

  1. Move a BLE-equipped asset into the coverage area
  2. Confirm the asset reports a location or presence through the gateway
  3. Adjust gateway height or placement if signal strength is weak

Tip: Gateways typically cover 100–300 feet indoors, depending on walls, equipment density, and interference.
