Sensor Install Guide

1 min. readlast update: 07.09.2026

Where you install a sensor makes a big difference in how well it performs. The mounting location impacts detection range, location accuracy, and how securely the sensor stays attached. Mount the sensor out of the operators way.

If the sensor needs to be hidden inside an enclosure, keep in mind that the enclosure material affects performance. Plastic has the least impact on signal strength, aluminum has a moderate impact, and steel reduces range the most. If possible, test the sensor in its actual environment whether that's the yards, warehouse, or job site.

Step 1. Clean Mount Surface with Alcohol Wipe

Step 2. Remove Adhesive Backing from Sensor

Step 3. Apply and Press Firmly for 30 seconds

Step 4. Apply SmartAsset Barcode near Sensor

One barcode and one sensor per equipment. Try to keep them close together.
