DashCam Calibration for Installers

The Titan application is used by installers to calibrate the dashcam during installation. The app ensures the camera lens is positioned correctly so the system can accurately capture driver behavior events, safety warnings, and required video footage.

Important: If you do not have log-in credentials for the Titan mobile app, please email support@smartasset.biz. The Titan app is required for installation and calibration purposes only. It is not used for normal camera operation or daily vehicle use.

Download & Install the Titan App

The Titan app is available for both iOS and Android devices.

  1. Open the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Search for TITAN FTS.
  3. Select the application with the Titan icon (Figure 1).
  4. Install the application.

Connect to the Camera

Power On Camera

  1. Start the vehicle engine to power on the camera.
  2. Wait for the camera to complete its startup process.
  3. Enable the camera Wi-Fi hotspot by pressing the access button twice

Connect to Camera Wi-Fi (iOS)

  1. Locate the camera SSID printed on the label.
    • The SSID is a 10-digit code.
    • It typically begins with ST (example: ST-XXXXXXX).
  2. Open the Titan app.
  3. Log in using the credentials provided in your Titan app email.
  4. Connect to the camera Wi-Fi using one of the following methods:

Option 1: Search Nearest Camera

  1. Select Search Nearest Camera.
  2. Ensure the mobile device is within range of the camera.
  3. Confirm the correct camera is selected.
  4. Click Join.

Option 2: Select Wi-Fi From iOS Settings

  1. Open iOS Settings.
  2. Select Wi-Fi.
  3. Choose the correct camera SSID from the available networks.
    • The camera SSID will begin with ST-XXXXXXX.
  4. Exit Settings and return to the Titan app.
  5. Select the camera SSID under Current Camera Wi-Fi.

Option 3: Insert SSID Manually

  1. Select Insert SSID.
  2. Manually enter the camera SSID.
  3. Connect to the camera.

Connect to Camera Wi-Fi (Android)

  1. Locate the camera SSID printed on the MDVR device.
    • The SSID is a 10-digit code and typically begins with ST.
  2. Open the Titan app.
  3. Log in using the credentials provided in your Titan app email.
  4. Select the camera SSID from the available Wi-Fi networks.
  5. When prompted, select Connect.
  6. Once connected, proceed with FleetCam calibration.

Note: If the camera does not appear in the list, select the Refresh button.


Calibrate FleetCam Road-Facing AI Camera

Enter Calibration Mode

  1. Select the camera from the Camera List to enter calibration mode.

Note: Cameras that have already been calibrated will display a checkmark.

  1. Toggle AI Calibration Mode to turn calibration mode on.

Enter Camera Measurements

  1. Enter the Camera Height.
    • Measure from the ground to the road-facing camera lens.
    • Measurements can be entered in inches or centimeters.
    • Select the correct unit of measurement.
  2. Select the camera mounting position:
    • Centered: Camera is mounted in the center of the windshield.
    • Not Centered: Camera is mounted away from the center of the windshield.

Additional measurement fields will appear when Not Centered is selected.

  1. Enter Vehicle Front Width.
    • This is the distance from the left edge of the vehicle to the right edge of the vehicle.
  2. Enter Camera Distance from Left Edge.
    • This is the distance from the left edge of the vehicle to the camera when viewing the vehicle from the front.

Note: Vehicle Hood Length only needs to be entered for tractor-trailer installations equipped with a long hood.

  1. After all measurements are entered:
    • Toggle AI Calibration Mode off.
    • Select CONFIRM to save changes and return to the camera selection list.

Maximum allowed camera offset:
4 inches (10.16 cm)


Calibrate FleetCam AI Driver-Facing Camera

  1. Select Camera 2 from the Camera List.
  2. Select the Steering Wheel Position from the drop-down menu.
    • Select whether the steering wheel is on the left or right side.
    • For vehicles in the USA, select Left.
  3. Adjust the driver-facing camera lens:
    • Open the bottom camera panel.
    • Move the adjustment tab until the driver's face appears just above the centerline of the live stream view.
  4. Select CONFIRM to save changes and return to the camera selection list.

Server Configuration

  1. Open Server Configuration.
  2. For Communication Type, select:

    Cellular

  3. Click Save.

Wi-Fi Configuration (Optional)

Wi-Fi configuration allows installers to connect the camera to a local Wi-Fi network for troubleshooting or downloading video files.

Note: This step is optional.

Configure Wi-Fi Connection

  1. Select Wi-Fi Connection to expand the menu.
  2. Select Connect to Wi-Fi.
  3. Select the desired Wi-Fi network or manually enter the SSID (Wi-Fi name).
  4. Select the correct Encryption Type:
    • None
    • WEP
    • WPA/WPA2-PSK
    • WPA2-Enterprise
  5. Enter the Wi-Fi password in the Password field.
  6. Click Save.
